Around The Grange
August 2021 News from Greenfield Hill Grange No. 133

By Jim and Lori Golias

  August 25, 2021 --

Our Agricultural Fair will be held on Saturday August 28, 2021. Hoping for a beautiful day in the weather department. We also hope many people will come out and support our Grange. It promises to be a fun day.

Drive- in Movie Nights are in the works. Now that the sun sets so late, we need to wait a few weeks to get an earlier start.

We plan on holding a Welcoming Ceremony at  our  September meeting. We have about new 8 members that will be take part.

We are planning to hold a SECOND ANNUAL Mum, Bulb and Pumpkin and Gourd Sale on September 25 from 10-3. Last year’s event was a great success.

It’s hard to believe we are already planning for Autumn.

Other  events  on  the  calendar include our Halloween Dinner, our Thanksgiving Dinner meeting and our Christmas Dinner meeting. We  continue  to  collect  for  our Vets at the VA Veteran’s hospital in West Haven.  Mike from volunteer services  at  the  VA,  says  besides individually wrapped snacks -- which are always welcome -- other items that are needed are books, puzzle books, shaving cream, razors, boxer underwear, and T-shirts. So please keep in mind when you are shopping.  Thanks  in  advance  for your generous donation to our vets! The Greenfield Grange extends gratitude to Marty Podskoch. Marty  is  an  author  from  East Hampton, CT and he has written 11 books.  We thank Marty for his donation of copies of “Connecticut 169 Club: Your Passport and Guide to Exploring Connecticut.’ The book features all 169 cities and towns in our state; and is a great travel tool! We able to sell the books for a profit for our Grange.   Thankyou Marty! Check out Marty’s other works at his website: www.martinpodskoch.com.

Keep an eye out for any additional Autumn events. That’s it for now. Happy trails!  Stay safe
