AUGUST 9, 2014 -- Information on the round-a-bout connecting Route 110 to Route 111 is at a standstill. The State Highway Engineering Dept. is developing final plans. Harmony Grange must keep this project in their plans as entrance to and from the hall to Routes 110 & 111 will not be direct anymore if the project is completed.
Ron Bunovsky, our Overseer, and his wife Gail, have outlined activities for our Agricultural Fair to be held at the Grange Hall on August 23 with set up and articles to be judged the day before, August 22. Some of the events being planned, are type of food to prepare to sell, exhibits from local retail outlets such as nurseries, garden shops, and power equipment companies. We will try to get help from the Trumbull Agricultural School for displays and events. Other displays will be antique farm equipment. We will have space and will invite vendors. We will also have exhibits of vegetables from local farms, as well as flowers, crafts, needlework, can goods, etc. which will be judged , ribbons given out, and money awarded. We are hoping for a very pleasant day.
Our next big event of importance will be our 125th anniversary of Harmony Grange #92 to be held in September or October of this year at the grange hall. The event will be on a Sunday and will be an open meeting. A visit to Redding Grange by seven of our members for their 75th anniversary will give us some ideas for our anniversary. We will have our Historian for the Town of Monroe for our main speaker. Other speakers will also be invited. Music will also be included and refreshments will be served. |
