Ekonk Community Grange March News

By Sue Gray

  MARCH 2, 2012 --

The Youth Drill Team for 2012 officially started rehearsals in February.  We will have collection boxes for non-perishable food items at all of our March and April public suppers.  We are pleased to be able to help families in need in this way.

During Dr. Seuss Week (Feb.27-Mar.2) we were pleased to donate Scholastic Books to Voluntown Elementary School as a prize for their reading!  We set the date our our FFA Appreciation Supper.  This is an event we hold every other year at our Grange with FFA students and alumni invited to a free spaghetti supper.  We give them a donation for their Scholarship Fund. This year it will be Thursday, April 26th at 6pm.

By the time that you read this, we will have taken an Exchange Program to Richmond Grange in Rhode Island.  Our program featured the 1920’s, a volatile time in our history.  Grange families have been enjoying playing Volleyball in the Sterling Municipal Building Gymnasium every Sunday evening; many times we have 3 teams, which means rotating players!

Mar. 5: “Blowing in the Wind” Mtg/Program 7:30 pm

Mar. 17: Corn Beef & Cabbage Supper 5pm

Mar. 17: Square Dance 7:30 p.m.
